A town that offers something for every season

The “Kaitakushi Brewery,” the forerunner of the Sapporo Group, was established in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in 1876. Ever since its founding, we have put our utmost efforts into beer manufacturing with heartfelt gratitude toward the natural blessings of Hokkaido and the local citizens. The Brewery changed its name to the Sapporo Factory (later Brewery No. 1) in 1906 and established the Sapporo Factory No. 2 (later Brewery No. 2) in 1966. The area around Brewery No. 1 underwent rapid urbanization which caused the factory to transfer to Eniwa City in 1989. With this, the site was redeveloped. In this way, the Sapporo Factory was reborn as a colorful facility complex with an all-weather atrium in April 1993.

Regional communication

The Sapporo Factory provides its space for events to promote more intimate regional communication. The annual spring event, the “Sapporo Factory Earth Day Cleaning Event,” which started in 2006, sees the participation of local neighborhood associations, factory tenants and staff every year.

Space development with a uniquely Hokkaido essence

The symbol of the Sapporo Garden Park, the red brick former sugar factory, was constructed in 1890. It became the processing plant for the Sapporo Brewery (the current Sapporo Breweries) in 1905 and was reborn as the Kaitakushi Brewery Memorial Hall (the current Sapporo Beer Museum) and the Sapporo Biergarten in 1966. It is currently a “Hokkaido heritage” site and is one of the most famous Sapporo tourist attractions.
The manufacturing facilities of the Sapporo Brewery No. 2 were consolidated in the Hokkaido Factory (Eniwa City) in 2003. The discarded site was redeveloped and turned into the Sapporo Garden Park which opened in 2005. The red brick buildings and age-old forests were preserved at this redevelopment project, aiming for urban development with lush greenery and a uniquely Hokkaido essence.

Regional contribution initiatives

The Sapporo Garden Park boasts a space of 130 thousand square meters, in which the Sapporo Beer Museum, Sapporo Biergarten, and the shopping mall “Ario Sapporo” can be found. The area also features the practice facility for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball team, making it an enormous commercial complex. The facilities are popular with local citizens as an open, green space for relaxing, and is also known as a new Sapporo sightseeing attraction. The facility currently holds the “Dosanko Appreciation Day” in partnership with various Hokkaido municipalities.

Yebisu Culture Festival 2020 to be held online and in real life!

Yebisu Culture Festival

The area around Yebisu Garden Place has a unique culture that has been created by the people who live and work there. Sapporo Real Estate is working with local residents by holding events to further revitalize the culture of Ebisu and contribute to the development and promotion of the area.
In 2020, due to the spread of novel coronavirus, there was a lot of discussion about whether or not the event should be held. However, it was precisely because of this situation that we decided to hold the festival after taking thorough measures against infectious diseases, as we felt strongly that we wanted to continue our efforts to enjoy culture and the arts, to communicate ourselves, and to create opportunities for exchange.
For the first time, we tried online streaming of stage performances via YouTube LIVE and online workshops. Since there were no more opportunities for presentations due to the effects of novel coronavirus, the smiles on the faces of those who stood on the stage, the words that spilled out of their mouths, and the expressions on the faces of everyone who saw them were unforgettable, making this a memorable event. We hope that the fact that we were able to hold the event successfully while taking on new challenges will give us hope for the future.

YEBISU GARDEN BASE, a place to talk about the future of the city and envision its future

On April 23, 2021, Sapporo Real Estate Co., Ltd. opened YEBISU GARDEN BASE, a communication space to foster "connections with the city" in the Brick End area of Yebisu Garden Place for a limited time.
YEBISU GARDEN BASE aims to foster further connections with the city, and to serve as a base for creating opportunities and relationships for industry-government-academia-private partnerships to engage in community development activities in Ebisu. As part of this effort, a DIY workshop was held at the time of its opening, and some of the furniture used here was made together with local residents.
In the future, it is planned to be used as a place for interaction with various people involved in the town and as a place to think about the future of the town, as well as a place for activities of the Yebisu Culture Festival, which we have been hosting since 2010, and the YEBISU GARDEN FARM, which was opened in Sapporo Plaza last year. It will also be used as a real exchange place for the regional SNS "Piazza."

Formation of local communities using the local SNS application "Piazza"

On July 15, 2020, Sapporo Real Estate launched "Piazza," a regional SNS application for the Ebisu area, to promote the formation of a new regional community that integrates the digital and the real.
By utilizing local information, mutual aid in times of disaster, and a group function for sharing goods, we aim to strengthen the system for delivering useful information and connections to local people.
In the future, we will not limit ourselves to the digital world, but will also use "Piazza" to hold events for members and develop a new community.
